The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, also referred to as simply UPJ or Pitt Johnstown, is a 4-year, degree-granting regional campus of the University of Pittsburgh, located in Johnstown, a city in Cambria County, in the US state of Pennsylvania, with a population estimated at a number of nearly 24 000 inhabitants, during the 2000 census.
UPJ was established in 1927, first starting as a 2-year college of the University of Pittsburgh, and for nearly 20 years, has held classes in the Johnstown High School building, in the Kernville section of downtown Johnstown. The university's current campus was opened in 1967 and the institution achieved degree-granting status in 1970.
The university currently offers its students more than 40 baccalaureate and associate degree programs, in a vast array of study areas.
UPJ's athletic teams are known as the Mountain Cats, and they compete in 11 varsity sports, for both men and women, in NCAA Division II, WVIAC. Their distinctive colors are blue and gold.
